There is a saying be careful of how you entertain a person, because you may be entertaining angels unaware…. I think the same goes for meeting people for the first time.
It’s always important to make a first impression because you never know when you may meet that person again or in what manner your paths may cross…so in every way try your best to be nice always…
When my journey first began here in America, I met a lot of people, some I will remember, some I will not but with every encounter, they or I would have parted with a distinct impression of each other.
Through a mutual friend I met a very beautiful and grounded woman who for the mere fact that she does what she does I call “Florence Nightingale;” we kept in touch, and even if I didn’t call she did…
Without knowing much of me she invited me to her family gathering which was mostly Guyanese to get rid of my homesickness…little did I know that with her invitation I was meeting family I was too young to remember or they were too old to remember me 🙂
By some unique chance I would have need to call on Florence later in my journey here; with no hesitation she made herself available to help despite the fact that I had completely lost touch with her….but had it not been for those first few encounters where I hope I created some memorable impression….she came just when I needed her..learning only then that we were connected way beyond the mutual friend who had introduced us…
As it turns out “Florence” is my mother’s first cousin….so as the saying goes…It really is a small world we live in and how smaller it can become when someplace as big as America by some random stroke of blessing you would meet someone you never even knew existed.
