Culture shock

Not all cultures are created equal…that’s for sure.

You know you’re Guyanese if you know what “bamsee” mean (hearty laugh), or “cross eye”  or you’ve had the unique experience of being “tantalise” your entire life so someone telling you “yuh living a straight life” is amateur stuff.

Having an appreciation and an understanding of African American culture is not the same for Afro Caribbean (Guyanese) culture; ask an African American who has no Guyanese connections why “Sanko lick he lover  pon de dam?”  and the blank expression you’re met with explains it all.
