My friends who know me well, know I’m very vain about my hair. You know those girls who spend hours before a mirror fixing their makeup and clothes?? Yup…I’m NOT one of them!!
I spend most of the time getting my hair just right. I believe that your face can be on point as well as your clothes but if your hair a hot mess…girl bye! You not on fleek!
I have always wondered about those women who constantly change their hairstyle; sadly 8 months and a harsh winter after, I have become one of those women. Coming to America has helped me to appreciate wearing my own hair which I wore mostly relaxed (permed) home in Guyana just past my shoulders or sometimes shorter when I felt daring. #sigh…oh how I miss it.
I know most black women will not be quick to admit it, but I will…I wear weave! (happy dance) Weave has been the one thing that has helped to salvage what’s left of my beautiful thick hair since my permed hair lost in the battle against mother nature during the winter, dropping non stop.
So I’ve had curly weave, straight weave, box braids, even attempted to wear my hair natural (fail) and now I have crochet braids. I think I’ve found my niche hairstyle with this one š but let’s see…there is a long summer ahead and I will do whatever it takes to protect my hair while still looking good. My hair chronicles continue…
