Breaking Bad… :)

Not to take away from the “awesomeness” of the show that inspired the title of this post, it was the most fitting title I thought should be used given the content of this piece.

I made a decision three years ago to live a little larger, be a little bolder, love more and above all things step out of my comfort zone and do something I never would have done previously.

It is with this in mind that I started doing small things contrary to my character every year for my birthday that would change the dynamics of how I lived and like the characters in the show that inspired the title of this post, change my life a little. So I started this tradition on my 30th birthday when I drove cross country (an 8 hour drive) to Suriname from Guyana after only being a driver for one year! It was a major accomplishment for me and encouraged me to believe that change is good, inevitable and awesome and above all…I can do anything!

At the beginning of this year I told someone who was dear to me and who inspired me to live outside of my comfort zone that I would wear a bikini this summer, something I’ve never done before 🙂 I laugh even as I remember this conversation because even though I said it to my friend, he believed it more than I did and offered encouragement.

As ridiculous and simple as this sounds this is a big feat for me since I’ve dealt with body image issues my entire life and and was teased as a young teenager. So as I celebrate my 32nd birthday tomorrow I decided this year my “breaking bad” birthday experience would be to wear a bikini; and I did so last weekend when I finally made it to the beach for the summer.

This bold moment would not be complete if I didn’t share it with you guys…so here goes….I must say 32 looks good on me! 😉
